Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a quote for my shipment?You can complete our quote form here or you can contact us via phone or email. In order for us to get you a price on your shipment, we will need to know the origin/destination, mode of transport, and cargo information.
How long does it take to receive a quote for a shipment?Depending on the scope of your shipment, the turnaround time can be anywhere from 5 minutes to 3 business days. Your quote is important to us, and we ensure that we will get back to you as soon as possible.
How long is a quote valid for?The validity of a quote varies depending on the shipment. The validity date range will always be indicated on the quote.
What do I do when my quote expires?You can either reach out to your Lax-brom rep or submit a new quote online here.
How do I book a shipment?After you received and approved our quote, you complete our booking form here. We will need information on the shipper, consignee, and cargo for us to make the booking. From there, one of our team members will arrange your shipment accordingly.
Where can I track my shipment?You can check the status of your shipment here. In order to properly track your cargo, please input your Lax-brom Shipping Bill of Lading number or container number.
How do I pay for an invoice?You can pay invoices via wire transfer, ACH, or check. We do not accept any debit or credit cards. Please reference our Lax-brom invoice in your payment. Once payment is sent, please send your remittance advice to your designated Lax-brom rep.
When will I be invoiced for my shipment?Typically, you will be invoiced once your cargo departs from the origin point. Unless otherwise stated, we require payment before the cargo arrives at destination. If not, your shipment will be placed on hold until so.
What documents do I need to submit for shipment clearance?For commercial transactions, a commercial invoice and packing list are needed. For private/personal shipments, only a packing list is necessary. Please check with customs in the respective countries you will be shipping to/from. Some commodities may need additional permits or documents in order to properly ship.
Can I purchase cargo insurance through you?Yes, we offer insurance coverages for just about any commodity and value. For any used cargo, we can only offer total loss coverage.
Do you offer door to door shipping?Yes, we provide the full shipping service from point A to B. With our expansive global network of agents and carriers, we have the ability to move your cargo to and from anywhere in the world. Do keep in mind that this is service is limited to certain areas and commodities.
What types of containers do you offer?We provide service for the following container types:

What are the packaging requirements for LCL?Your freight must be properly packed and secured in order to ship via less than container load (LCL). Unpacked or loose goods are restricted for this service. Packaging types include pallets, crates, boxes, bundles, etc.
What countries do you service?We ship to and from just about anywhere in the world. We primarily handle shipments going to and from the United States. We do not service any countries that are experiencing sanctions, war, or any other circumstance that puts cargo at risk.
What type of commodities do you ship?We transport a wide range of products from machinery, foodstuff, apparel and many more. On the other hand, we do not handle any scrap, recycle or artwork.
How does LCL pricing work?It is based on the amount of space your cargo takes up in a container. The rates are measured based on the volume (cbm/cft) or weight (per 1,000 kgs), whichever is higher.
How do I calculate the volume for LCL cargo?The volume is measured by the freight’s length, width and height.
Can I make changes to the routing of my shipment after it is booked?We can make changes to your shipment’s route prior to the cargo being tendered to the origin port. Once cargo is received or enroute, these types of changes are not guaranteed.
What is the maximum cargo weight allowed in a 20’ container?37,000 lbs is the legal maximum weight allowed for a 20′ container. Anything over that may require a tri axle chassis and/or overweight permits.
What is the maximum cargo weight allowed in a 40’ container?44,000 lbs is the maximum legal weight allowed in a 40′ container. Anything over that may require a tri-axle chassis or overweight permits.
Can I amend a Bill of Lading after my cargo departs from origin?Most of the time you can amend a Bill of Lading after it departs depending on when the cargo is arriving to destination, however, there will be an amendment fee of USD 75.
